Day 17 Eats!

We left our house today at 9 am and didn’t get home until 8pm. Yep, a LOOOOONG day. A good day, but a looong day. I am so glad that Jeremiah made us a huge batch of tin can chili because it has been a go-to meal this week and there have been zero complaints from the kids because they are so proud of Jeremiah having made it. We ate the last bit of it for breakfast and ran out the door with our school books and taekwon-do outfits.

Where were we running to? My baby doctor appointment! It was a short, normal visit with a really long wait time. Thankfully, we were prepared with our school work and got a lot done while waiting. School on the go is never without some funny stories though. Shiloh plopped down with her language book next to a lady who she appointed her “helper”. Shiloh probably talked more than worked, but it was cute. So cute in fact that Jeremiah and I were watching them and Jeremiah commented that Shiloh is still in that “cute phase” but no one thinks he’s cute anymore. He continued that he’s okay not being cute because now he’s moving into the “cool phase”. The lady next to us literally laughed out loud with this one. She was very sweet and said she thinks he’s already cute. Haha, gotta love these kids.

We moved on to baby talk and the kids wanted to know what the baby looks like right now. I pulled up a drawing of what she looks like with Shiloh saying, “aaawwww” and Jeremiah screaming. “MOMMY! Oh my goodness! Why did you show that to me? That was WAY too much for my eyes!” The whole room was laughing at this point. Darn kids….

Btw, baby is doing great!!!

After our loooong appointment we ran by Whole Foods for the first time since we moved to Houston and I almost started crying when I saw the bulk chorizo. I have dearly missed chorizo. We each picked lunch from all the healthy options and ran off to meet friends at the park.

What did we eat? Being in the “kid’s club” Shiloh and Levi got a banana and Jeremiah got an orange as an appetizer. Jeremiah made himself a meatless, dressing-less salad that he chomped down quickly. (Hint: Want to know how to get your kids to eat a salad? Let them make it themselves.) Shiloh picked a chicken thigh with cabbage and steamed broccoli and a boiled egg on the side. She said it was the best cabbage ever. Levi also picked a chicken thigh with curried coconut milk squash and mixed veggies. I have finally hit the stage where I get full quickly… and then get hungry again quickly…. so my plate was a chicken thigh and curried squash. So glad to have a Whole Foods available to us again!

We had a fun afternoon at the park, had some granola, raisins, and plantain chips and went straight from there to taekwon-do class. We picked up some dinner on our way, a bowl of taco- minus the taco. Looks good, doesn’t it? Our bowl consisted of steak, onions, bell peppers, lettuce and tomato. We gobbled it down.

Although we got home at 8 and I was ready to fall over, Jeremiah and Shiloh still had appetites like animals. I pulled out some carrots and grapes and let them go to town. Where did I go? Not to town… to bed. At 8:30. Yep. I was tired, and I was done. Yay for 12 hours of interrupted sleep!

  1. Great job, momma! I love hearing about your family, especially since it’s so similar to ours. I had my 4th kiddo around this time last year. I love that you’re able to make paleo work for your whole family during this busy time of life. God bless!
