Whew! I have been waiting for 15 days to finally say: We’re halfway there!
So… how are we doing? Let’s find out!
One of the biggest reasons we wanted to do this month of strict paleo eating is because of the hubs. He’s actually the one that suggested it! As he so eloquently laid out in his post The Hubby: An Unexpected Journey, he had let himself go a bit. Remember this pic?
Check out my handsome hubby 15 short days later:
Yep, he is making some very cool progress. His pants are no longer tight, he is feeling better, he is eating whole foods, he is more active and he is down 13 pounds. Pretty darn cool, huh?! At this rate, he is sure to hit his goals and be feeling even better in 15 more days.
Another reason we are so gung-ho about eating well is because of Jeremiah. Jeremiah is our 9 year old who has type 1 diabetes. He was diagnosed over 5 years ago and the ONLY thing we have found that gets his sugar levels under control is eating healthy, whole foods.
So how’s he doing? I averaged out his blood sugar numbers for the past 15 days and his average blood sugar is 105. 105!!! That’s an incredible number guys. That’s practically what a non-diabetic’s average would be. This is not a fluke, this is not because of an absurd amount of lows, this is because we are eating foods that digest slowly and that don’t spike or drop his sugar. We are eating foods that his body is well equipped to deal with and is… spectacularly. We still have our moments but overall, this is the way to eat for him that will hopefully be a lifelong pattern.
What about Ms. Preggers? During Christmastime I starting developing the “normal” pregnancy symptoms of heartburn and indigestion. I was having to go to sleep sitting up and sometimes stay that way throughout the night. It was NOT fun. I was popping Tums and Pepcid like they were candy. 2 days after I started back on 100% paleo I no longer needed the meds and haven’t needed them since. I can lay straight down and enjoy as much sleep as my little ninja will let me.
I lost 4 pounds in these 15 days and have kept that off. This might not sound like a lot, and I’m not trying in any way to lose weight, but I have had a pattern of gaining a good amount every month so to go in for my monthly visit with a weight loss is a first for me. I am the smallest at this point in my pregnancy than I have ever been with my other 3. I feel good, have energy, and am enjoying getting my family back on the right track.
How bout the other 2 in the tribe? Shiloh and Levi and both doing great. They are not complaining of stomach issues, they have finally gotten over the whole “we just drink water” and now ask for it, and they are loving helping me in the kitchen, as is Jeremiah.
That’s a new one for this month. All 3 of my kids are loving coming up with new recipes and hashing them out on their own. It’s very cool to watch and see them develop this love for good food. Jeremiah has made his “Shark Attack Salad”, his “Crazalad” and his “Tin Can Chili”. Shiloh just invented her “Deliciousness-es” and Levi helped me perfect our “Granola!”. If you haven’t welcomed your kids into the kitchen I highly recommend you do so. We all are having a blast!
15 days in and progress is being made all over the board! We are being active, we are eating great, we are studying God’s word and talking about it together, school is going great, pregnancy is on track, and life is good. Can’t wait to share our full progress when the 30 days are up.
How are you doing?!

Great progress so far! Keep up the good work!
This is awesome! You guys keep it up!
