All week the kids and I, and sometimes Brandon, have been having a “stay-cation”. We’ve gone to many of our favorite places in New Orleans and have been having a great time together. If you’ve never had a “stay-cation” I highly recommend you try it.
Picture this: You get to take your family to fun places, places you might already have a membership to, and still get to bring great food and sleep in your own comfy bed. It’s so much fun and gives you the opportunity to enjoy the city you live in. We went to the zoo, the movies, the library, the aquarium, the insectarium, and now the summer movie and the children’s museum. Talk about a great week. I hope you have a great “stay-cation” soon!
We went to an early morning summer movie showing of Alvin and the Chipmunks so we scarfed down some chorizo and eggs, packed a lunch, and headed out.

After the movies we went downtown to the children’s museum and loved their new interactive exhibit of a farmer’s market. The kids had so much fun selling me farm fresh eggs and wearing their farmer aprons. Levi even cooked me up a bun-less hamburger, carrot and coffee. Too sweet!

We took a break for a light lunch of chicken wings, homemade trail mix and a pluot. Doesn’t seem like a lot of food, I know, but I could barely get these kids to still still long enough to eat this, they wanted to play!
I love how much kids learn at this museum and how they even get in some exercise. They loved hanging out together and we stayed until they closed. Perfect ending to our “stay-cation”.
I know dinner was supposed to be a whole lot more gourmet and pretty and put together than this but hey, we were playing ourselves to exhaustion all day! Thankfully I made veggie spaghetti last month and defrosted it last night and we had some leftover beef curry in the fridge. The kids ate spaghetti but Brandon and I wanted both so we shared a little of each. Sooo good and I’ll have the recipe up for the veggie spaghetti soon.
I love that the kids are enjoying hanging out together, reading the bible together, and eating great food together. We are already feeling closer as a family and our bellies are feeling great too. It’s insane to think it’s only been a week, can’t wait to see what a month will bring.
