Started my Monday off bright and early, actually dark and early, at the Crossfit gym. I am loving Crossfit and loving that I have a great group of girls to do it with. We’re learning all kinds of new moves and feeling stronger after every workout. I’ve got to say that the best part is how we are blowing our coach away. We came in being “newbies” just last week and now we are right in there with the rest of the pack and she can’t keep from telling us how great we’re doing. It’s really nice to know that all our hard work on the TRX has paid off and we can hang with the ‘big guns’.
Our WOD was “The Seven”. We did seven different exercises, 7 times each, for 7 rounds. Crazy intense and very cool. We warmed up with 1,000m row and cooled down with some planks and handstands. Dang.
I have never been a gymnast type person so a handstand kind of scares me. It just doesn’t seem natural to be hanging upside down. Be real people! My feet were meant to be planted firmly on the ground. I did give it a try although it was a very much failed attempt. I will definitely be working on it. My girls however were solid hand standers. Marcy kicked her legs up and held it for what seemed like half an hour! Well, maybe just a couple minutes, but dang! Pam and Melanie also rocked the handstand which only made me want to show them up next time even more. I’m not competitive at ALL, am I?! Check Melanie out:
I kept my feet on the ground for this workout but I still managed to rock my new Geaux Crossfit tank that I got from the Whole9 workshop. Can’t wait to have some massive weights on that bar!
After Crossfit I joined Ashley for breakfast and ordered the usual: 2 eggs and a side of bacon. Unfortunately we were so deep in great conversation that I forgot to take a picture but I’m sure you can make a mental one. Just picture: 2 eggs….4 strips of bacon…. Yep! You got it!
When I got home Brandon Jeremiah were out playing basketball in front of the house. We are so thankful for our good friends who gave us their extra basketball goal after ours was destroyed in a recent storm. They are loving playing together! After their game Brandon and I swapped roles and he ran off to his gym to get in a great morning workout.
……….
Being a Monday, and a holiday, our day was EXTREMELY relaxed. So what would be better for lunch than eggs topped with smoked salmon with a side on leftover onions and bell peppers?! Hit the spot for us!
……….
By dinner time we were on the Mexican train and excited to be on it! I grilled up some talapia that I seasoned with comino, garlic, paprika, salt, and pepper. I topped the spicy fish with cut up mangos and kiwis and squeezed an entire orange over the whole thing. Was it good? Heck ya it was good! It was GREAT!!!
I figured since I am always taking pictures of the kids I would get one in of the hubs today. Looking pretty happy, isn’t he?!
This is Levi saying, “Mo fis! Mo fis!” Don’t you want to squeeze his seasoned face?! And this was his third plate!
The “Whole Family” LOVED this fish and have already begged me to make it again. I suppose I will have to oblige. It’s always nice to know that I am not only feeding my family well, but they are enjoying it too!
After dinner, like every night, Brandon had a bible study with the kids through the book Long Story Short. They have really begun to look forward to this time with their dad, and Brandon does too. It’s become a nice night-time tradition, a godly tradition, a “Whole Family” tradition. One that we will carry on for a long, long time.
What traditions are you making with your family? Are you being active as a family? Are you eating well as a family? Are you reading God’s word as a family? Try it. Start today.
God will bless you for it and your “Whole Family” will thank you.
